Résumé

Academic training 

I have a degree in English language and literature from the University of Castilla-La Mancha, which I obtained with honors. My studies took place from 2000 to 2005.

My studies included, among other things, courses in English-Spanish contrastive analysis, English for law, English for engineering, English for tourism, French, Arabic and librarianship. If you wish, you may check my degree title and academic record here.

My knowledge of translation is a combination of what I learned during my studies and the experience gained in recent years, although it is my wish to enroll for additional courses related to translation when circumstances allow it. In 2009, I entered a public competition for an English and French translator position at a justice court, and I ended up in second place (see the list of admitted candidates and the list of candidates who passed the exams, page 5 of the pdf file).

I also have Cambridge's Certificate of Proficiency in English (C2) and the official DALF C1 advanced French title. My knowledge of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian is fundamentally self-taught, although I intend to take an official exam to obtain a certificate.

I think that, as any self-respecting translator :-), I am a person very interested in the world around him/her and concerned about the correct use of his/her own mother tongue. In addition, I am currently studying a vocational training course on web applications development, as I like programming and it can give me technical knowledge useful for my translation work.

Professional experience

In the field of translation, I worked as a freelance translator in 2011, when I translated several kinds of texts (institutional and technical) for two translation agencies. After that, I have sometimes cooperated with another translation agency, mainly with documents related to the United Nations, which I am quite familiar with.

Besides, I worked as advisor of the University of Castilla-La Mancha's program of Spanish language courses for foreign students in Toledo (http://www.uclm.es/fundacion/esto) from October 2006 to November 2013. My job was essentially administrative (enrollments, promotion and advertising, management of host families, website maintenance, payments, and so on), but it also included some occasional translations.
